The 4th International Workshop on Neuroscience Hosted by SBMU

Social Relations of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical sciences: The 4th International workshop was hosted by SBMU Neuroscience Research Center in collaboration with Neurobiology and Neurophysiology Research Center of Tarbiat Modares University and the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM) on October 17-28.
Prof. Fereshteh Motamedi, Director of SBMU Neuroscience Research Center, stated that countries which are competent in terms of science and equipment are annually permitted by the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) to organize training and research workshops on neuroscience in order to promote and up-to-date knowledge among specialists in this field of study. Accordingly, this time Iran was given permission to hold this workshop in SBMU Neuroscience Research Center.
Prof. Motamedi mentioned that 24 PhD and Post-PhD students from Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Malaysia, Greece, Turkey and Iran participated in this International workshop.
Having referred to different programs in this twelve-day workshop, she explained that the workshop was opened by some eminent professors from Turkey, Japan, Germany and Iran giving comprehensive details on relevant topics of discussion such as research on pain and addiction, cognitive neuroscience and cognitive disorders. Afterwards, students could closely observe and practice behavioral, electrophysiological, cellular and molecular techniques in different laboratories of SBMU Neuroscience Research Center and Neurophysiology Research Center.
She also added that SBMU Neuroscience Research Center hosted the 3rd International workshop on Neuroscience last year.
In the end, she appreciated and acknowledged tireless efforts of organizers and sponsors of this workshop including the Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific, SBMU Neuroscience Research Center, Tarbiat Modares University, the Institute for Theoretical Physics and Cognitive Sciences (IPM), Iranian Neuroscience community, Iranian Society of Physiology and Pharmacology and the committee for development of science and technology.
